It’s getting to that time of the year when we pack up and take off for our much needed holidays. So what happens to our beloved garden during our absence? Who is watering the blooms?
There are many options available, Irrigation systems such as, sprinklers, dripper systems, water wicking, all that can be set up on timers. There is also the good old fashioned water bottle with holes in the top to drip away in your beds… although, you could need a few empty bottles depending on how many flowers you’re watering. For those with pots, you could create a water bath, or even use self watering pots.
Or…
You can ask your neighbour, have them pop over to your garden and water for you. Not only is this a great saving and offers peace of mind (your house is being watched) it also creates a sense of Community, something that is very important. Invite your neighbours over, walk them around your garden, talk about what is important, make the offer to help themselves to veggies, fruits and even flowers in your absence, in return for their kindness you can return the favour.
