Scientific Name: Actionotus helianthi
Physical Attributes: An erect shrub with soft silver grey leaves and star shaped flowers, up to 7 cm across which are flannel like in texture.
Uses: An excellent plant for pots or gardens.
Life Cycle: Perennial – short lived
When to Sow: The optimum germination temperature for germination is around 18-22°C
Position: Full/Part sun (will tolerate light frost)
Germination Time: 21 – 42 days (Seeds of many natives are dormant and require specific conditions or pre-treatment for germination.
Do not be too hasty to discard seed that does not germinate, seeds will often lay dormant until the conditions are similar to their natural requirements for germination to occur. Containers put to one side will often surprise long after they were discarded.)
Maintenance: Flannel Flowers don’t like to have their roots tampered with. They don’t like getting their feet too wet, sandy soil would be great or try pots.
