Ah, now this one here is a real beauty in the late spring border. You’ll notice those silky, pure white petals, almost like crumpled tissue paper, with that striking lemon centre. Quite elegant, really.
I like to tuck it in amongst softer greens or pale blues so the flowers stand out properly. Give it a sunny spot and well-drained soil—poppies don’t care much for heavy, soggy ground. Once it’s happy, it’ll often self-seed about the garden, which I rather enjoy. You never quite know where the next little surprise will appear the following year.
They’re not long-lasting flowers individually, mind you, but the plant keeps sending up new blooms, so you get a lovely succession. And the bees absolutely adore them—always a gentle buzzing about on a warm morning.
After flowering, you’re left with those handsome seed pods too. I usually leave a few standing; they’ve got a sort of quiet architectural charm in the border.
All in all, Papaver ‘Bridal White’ is one of those plants that brings a bit of grace and simplicity to the garden—nothing flashy, just beautifully refined.
